The proposal

With Christmas approaching and at 37 weeks pregnant, Tayla was busy wrapping Christmas presents when Ryan arrived home from work.

“He was so nervous, I could see him shaking”, she remembers, as he got down on one knee to propose to her.

“It was such a beautiful moment and both of us were teary as I said yes…”

A month following their engagement, their first daughter Sophie was born. By the time they got married, she was already 14 months old and walking down the aisle with Ryan’s younger sisters holding her hands.

Planning the big day

It actually only took Tayla and Ryan 5 months to plan their wedding, but due to the uncertainty of 2020 due to the pandemic, they decided to put their wedding plans on hold for a while at the start.

They both knew exactly what they wanted for their special day though. It was simple, a relaxed beach wedding and a fun night of dancing to follow.

“We were lucky enough to have our wedding at our dream location”, says Tayla “on the beach at Tangalooma Island Resort.”

The big day

For a beach wedding ceremony, the weather was perfect, with beautiful blue sky and a warm 29 degrees.

Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, they couldn’t have any out of state guests attend, but they felt fortunate to still have close friends and family from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  They also felt blessed to be able to share their wedding day with their daughter.

“It was so beautiful having her there,” says Tayla.

“Everyone had a great time,” says Tayla, “they said it was nice and relaxed, emotional and fun.”

After their beach ceremony, they held their reception in a beautiful upstairs space at Tangalooma Island Resort. Tayla remembers the big balcony and how lovely the room was set up.

“… everyone was on the dance floor all night long,” she says, “sooo much fun!”

From the outset, they both wanted a relaxed beach wedding, and to dance the night away – and that’s exactly what they had. “It was better than we could have dreamed,” Tayla says.

Tayla and Ryan spent their ‘first night’ at Tangalooma Island Resort in a beautiful room overlooking the ocean.  They loved it so much they decided to stay an extra few nights.

The wedding team

Their photographer, Edwina from EKP Studios made the day run smoothly, and Tayla and Ryan enjoyed every minute. They had earlier done an engagement shoot with Edwina, and Tayla says she was great from the moment she met her.

“Great communication and professionalism, Edwina made us both feel comfortable and important through every conversation and meeting we had.”

Their celebrant Leanne was also there for them, offering advice, getting to know them as a couple, walking them through what the day would be like, and helping everything run perfectly on the day.

Tayla admits she loved so many photos taken by her photographer, that they decided to have two wedding albums made!

“They were very fun to work with through it all” she says of Edwina and her husband.  “They were very patient with me through the editing and album designing process and never rushed me.”

“We were so lucky and grateful to have such a wonderful wedding day,” she says, “and one month after, we fell pregnant again and have now been blessed with our second beautiful daughter.”

Bride’s advice

Tayla’s wedding advice:

“Enjoy every minute of the day, it goes so fast and this is what all the planning beforehand led up to – so you could enjoy your day with your husband, family and closest friends.”
